The world needs to prepare for ‘millions’ of climate displaced, announced the UN representative for Refugees earlier this year. Today, the consequences of climate change are already noticeable in our environment, but its impact on migration remains hidden. The melting of glaciers, the rising sea levels and desertification of fertile lands is pushing thousands of people out of their homelands to seek better refuge. However the West, and more specifically Europe remains oblivious to this tragedy, and does not recognize those displaced due to climate change.
Come join us at the DISSIDENT club this Wednesday, 13th October, 2021 from 19h as we discuss the issue of climate refugees vis-a-vis migration to Europe. Speakers include: Pinaki Bhattacharya, a political refugee from Bangladesh living in Paris, Vincent Loustau from the humanitarian organization SOS Méditerranée and François Croquette, who is a delegate at the Ecological Transition and Resilience department of the Paris City Hall.
(Food and drinks will be available on order from the bar).
