With the recent occupation of Afghanistan by the Taliban, the future of the country remains uncertain. Women and minorities in particular face a serious threat under the rule of the hard-liner Islamist group. To better understand the situation that the country is in, we look back at the 20 years of conflict in Afghanistan and the role of the West, especially the United States in the aftermath of 9/11 attacks and the meddling of Pakistan – to trace the events which has brought the country to this juncture.
Join us at the DISSIDENT club on 9/11 (Saturday) at 19H as we speak to Afghans who have been recently evacuated and seeking refuge in Paris. We will host Afghan women artists, intellectuals, and activists along with international foreign policy experts to better understand Afghanistan, its future and how we can help.
